In Canada, more precisely in the city of Estevan, a dog was euthanized after contracting rabies.

The animal lived in a rural area with the presence of wild animals from which it may have contracted rabies. In Saskatchewan, rabies is typically found in wild skunks and bats. The disease is commonly transmitted through bites, or contact with saliva.

Dr. Carol Ross, Estevan’s veterinarian, recalled that it’s very important to vaccinate their animals against rabies both to protect their animals and to protect humans, in fact the dog owner will be going through post-exposure vaccinations and treatments.
